Privacy Policy — LOUDBLOOM app
This policy covers the LOUDBLOOM app for iPhone. The policy for the website loudbloom.net is here. Deutsche Fassung.
1. Who is responsible
GRANITBLOOM e.U., Seitenstettengasse 5/37, 1010 Vienna, Austria
E-mail: info@loudbloom.net
2. In short
LOUDBLOOM has no user accounts, no advertising, no tracking and no analytics. The app contains no third-party code that collects data. Everything you enter or save in the app stays on your iPhone. We do not receive any of it. The only thing the app fetches from the internet is new quiz content from our website (section 6).
3. Data stored on your iPhone
The app saves your settings and your practice data on the device: interface colour, practice profile, progress and scores, favourites, your own songs and setlists, notes, gear lists and similar entries. This data is stored only in the app's storage on your iPhone. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. Depending on your iOS settings, it can be part of your iPhone backup, which Apple handles under its own privacy policy. Deleting the app deletes this data.
4. Microphone
The app uses the microphone, with your permission, for the tuner, the BPM counter, sung exercises and voice control. The sound is analysed in real time on your iPhone. The app does not record, store or transmit audio.
5. Voice control and speech recognition
Voice control (for example hands-free ear training or saying a tempo or song title to the metronome) uses Apple's speech recognition. Where your iPhone can recognise speech on the device, recognition happens entirely on the iPhone and nothing leaves it. To understand your own song titles better, the app builds a small language model from them on the device; it stays on the iPhone.
Some iPhones cannot recognise English speech on the device. In that case the app asks you first. Only if you choose “Allow” does voice control send what the microphone hears, while voice control is on, to Apple's speech servers for recognition. Apple processes this under its own privacy policy. LOUDBLOOM does not receive it. You can withdraw this permission at any time in the app under Profile → Privacy → Online speech recognition; without it, voice control stays off on such devices. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
6. New quizzes and video links
New quizzes are published as content on our website. While the app is open, it checks loudbloom.net for new or updated quiz files (at most every 10 minutes) and stores them on your iPhone so they also work offline. The request contains no account, no device ID and nothing you entered in the app. As with any website visit, our host ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich (Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany) technically processes the connection data — IP address, date and time, requested file and the app's browser identification — to deliver the file and keep the service secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not use these logs for analytics or to identify you; no cookies are set. If you have no internet connection, the app simply keeps the quizzes it already has.
A quiz or a document can link to the matching video on YouTube. The link is marked as leaving the app. The video opens outside the app, in the YouTube app or your browser, and YouTube's own privacy policy applies there. The app itself does not embed YouTube.
7. Flashlight
The Visual Beat can flash the iPhone's flashlight in time with the metronome. Only the light is switched; the camera does not take pictures.
8. Test versions
Test versions of the app (not the App Store version) can keep a technical log on the device about audio events, for example which audio output is in use. It contains no audio and no transcripts and is never sent automatically. The App Store version does not contain this log.
9. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR). As we do not receive personal data from the app, there is usually nothing we hold about you. Contact: info@loudbloom.net.
You may also lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority: Austrian Data Protection Authority, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at.
